About Comcast Xfinity speeds

Test your Comcast Xfinity internet speed to see if you are getting the bandwidth you pay for. Xfinity offers cable and fiber-gig plans, and real-world speeds depend on your plan tier, modem, router and home wiring.

Expected speeds: Popular Xfinity plans range from 75 Mbps up to 1200 Mbps (Gigabit) download.

Comcast Xfinity speed test FAQ

Why is my Xfinity speed test slower than my plan?

Speeds vary with WiFi signal strength, the number of connected devices, modem age, and network congestion during peak hours. Try testing over a wired Ethernet connection to isolate WiFi from the ISP connection.

What is a good ping for Xfinity?

A ping under 50 ms is good for most uses; under 20 ms is excellent for competitive gaming. Cable connections typically land in the 15-40 ms range, while fiber offers lower latency.

Does Xfinity cap upload speed?

Yes. Most Xfinity cable plans have asymmetric speeds - much lower upload than download. If you need symmetric upload (e.g. for streaming or large backups), a fiber plan is a better fit.
