About Cox speeds
Test your Cox internet speed to check whether your connection matches your plan. Cox offers cable plans from budget tiers up to gigabit, plus fiber in some markets - and like all cable providers, upload speeds are much lower than download.
Expected speeds: Cox plans range from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps download (Gigablast), with cable upload typically 10-35 Mbps.
Cox speed test FAQ
Why is my Cox speed slower than my plan?
WiFi is the usual culprit - test over Ethernet first. If wired speeds are still low, restart your modem and check for outages in your area. On gigabit plans, older modems and routers often bottleneck the connection.
Does Cox have data caps?
Most Cox plans include a 1.25 TB monthly data cap, with overage charges beyond that. You can check your usage in the Cox app; heavy households may want the unlimited option.
How do I test my Cox gigabit speed accurately?
Use a wired Ethernet connection to a modem and router rated for gigabit, close background downloads and cloud backups, and run the test several times. WiFi rarely shows full gigabit speeds on any provider.
